Hey Part-Time Creator,
Take this newsletter and apply it to your business daily; it’ll help you build your business smarter. This is a paid post. If you’re a busy professional with an ambition to sell a product or service on the internet:
Many subscribers expense this newsletter. It works out at about $0.50 per growth hack.
Today, we’re talking about using what’s working in one vertical as your unconventional competitive advantage because we’re applying it to a *new* market you had no idea existed.
Plus, at the end of this newsletter, I’ll give you a super-GPT prompt that will help you apply this line of thinking to your business. I’ve just used it, and it’s *chef kiss*.
Step 1: Find the *boomin* businesses
Everywhere you go, there are brands just doing wayyyyy better than everyone else.
Ideas that just take off, things that just resonate with people and then we see this seemingly overnight success story. Sometimes, timing is everything. Then what tends to happen is that a handful of copycat brands pop up all over the place — trying to reap the reward of the product-market fit.
The trouble is, those brands are trying to serve the same people.
It’s like when those cookie croissants blew up, then overnight, thousands of bakeries across the country were trying to do the similar thing. That will land you a subset of customers, but it’s not as good as having the seed of the idea first.
First to market often gets to capitalize on the market.
But what if you can take the idea (the thing that is resonating) and apply it to a different market entirely? Then, you are the first to market *in a new market*, so you can reap the rewards.
The first step is to identify ideas, concepts, and trends that are taking off. You can do that with a simple search in Exploding Topics.
Let’s take 5 ideas that have taken my attention:
Beef Tallow
Walking pad
Cold plunge tub
Seamoss gummies
Reminalizing gum
Now we want to find the top brands in these spaces, you can do that with a quick GPT search (I’ve added this to the prompt later).
Here are some brands:
Vilgain Organic Grass-Fed Beef Tallow
Ossa Organic Grass-Fed Beef Tallow
Sperax Under Desk Treadmill
Coldture's Portable Ice Bath Water Chiller Pro
Next, we want to understand who they are marketing to currently…
