I’ve been writing on the internet since 2020.
I believe that you don’t need to quit your day job to build on the internet. In fact, your day job provides a huge content opportunity.
Here’s how to use your day job to write on the internet👇
Step 1: Find your talking points
Most people struggle to write online because they don’t know *what* exactly to write about. They know they want to, they have a passion to create, but they watch from the sidelines because they just don’t know what to write about.
If that’s you, the first thing to do is to find your talking points.
Here’s the exercise:
For the next week at work, every time something grabs your attention, write it down. Whether that’s something you’ve learned, an idea that you think is interesting, a conversation that’s on your mind, or something that went wrong.
It might look something like this:
Conversation with Fred about high-value clients
Presentation on Wednesday about customer service
Thursday’s playback session that didn’t quite hit the mark
All of these things that have happened in your week provide an opportunity to unpick and discuss. And all are great starting points for content, should you explore them in a way that makes the content useful for others.
Because after all, that’s what it’s all about.
Making content of value to the people who read it, get it right and you *create* your audience. Here’s how to transform your talking point to content-of-value.
