5 Tiny Habits That Helped Me Write 500 Articles Alongside My 9–5 Over the Last 2 Years

It’s funny because at the time my head felt like it was about to fall off with the pressure of putting my thoughts into the world.
When that was met with crickets I realised that I’d been worried for nothing. The reality is, if you write online, there is no audience to write to, that’s the beauty of it.
As you get better you command an audience but in the early days, noone cares. It’s the biggest opportunity to learn with little judgement and practice in the open.
Since then I’ve written 500+ articles, so something is going in the right direction. Here’s the 5 tiny habits that helped me write alongside my 9–5.
1. Stop dreaming big, start doing small
For years I’d wanted to create alongside my 9–5 but every single time I overwhelmed myself with expectations.
2 weeks in I was dreaming about the mansion I could buy. The trouble came when I contrasted that ambition with where I was now. It would knock me back. The gap was humungous.
Every time spent any time staring at that gap I would feel closer to giving up. So I stopped. Now I focus on taking one step forward every day.
